Schooling

La Grande Ourse runs on the principle of "global school": it has no "sections" nor "grades". Students work under a "personal contract", according to their capacities and their progressive orientation.

Two class-groups exist: one gathers students aged from 6 to 12, the other students from 12 to 15 years old.

The school prepares students for any orientation: professionnal apprenticeship, college of technology (technicum), college for tertiary education, high-school level ("maturité"). Since 1984, 50% of our students pursued towards "tertiaire" and "baccalauréat", and 50% towards professionnal training. After their schooling at La Grande Ourse, and no matter which path they followed, 90% of our students succeeded through their first year in the next school they attended.
